Screenshot on Windows 10 / 7 / Vista using Snipping Tools

Snipping Tools is must know Windows apps. This utility apps have been around since Windows Vista. Here is how to screenshot using snipping tools :

  • Select the Start (Windows) button on your screen or keyboard.

  • Type snipping tool, and then select it in the search results.

  • To choose the type of snip you want, select Mode (or, in older versions of Windows, the arrow next to New).

  • Choose Free-formRectangularWindow, or Full-screen Snip. When making free-form or rectangular snips, use your mouse to select the area that you want to capture.

  • You can edit snipping result using the custom pen, highlight, and eraser tools.

  • Use the Save and Copy buttons at the top of the snip to save or copy it to the clipboard.

Screenshot Windows Entire Screen using Printscreen

To capture your entire screen, tap the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Your screenshot will not be saved, but it will be copied to the clipboard — you’ll need to open an image editing tool (such as Microsoft Paint), paste the screenshot in the editor and save the file from there.

Tap the Windows Key + Print Screen on your keyboard to capture your entire screen and automatically save the screenshot. Your screen will briefly go dim to indicate that you’ve just taken a screenshot, and the screenshot will be automatically saved in the Pictures > Screenshots folder.
